Brewing Pumpkin Ale today

West Virginny Pump-Kin Ale

5# Light DME 1# Pale 1/2# Crystal 60L 1/2# Victory 1/2# Carapils 4# roasted and mashed pumpkin 1/2# Light Brown Sugar 1 oz Cascade flowers 60 1 oz Williamette 45 1 tsp each of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice 10 2 oz fresh ginger 10 Recycled White Labs California ale yeast in a 1 qt starter

At least this is the plan for the moment, roasting the pumpkin right now at 350, probably for an hour or so. Going to use the standard partial mash technique, no grain bag, just throw it in and sparge after conversion.

Will do 1 week in glass with blowoff tube, then another week or 2 in secondary. Keg it up and should be ready just in time for Halloween (I like my standard ales pretty fresh.)

Wish me luck, I'll post how it turns out...

Cheers,

Brendan
