Grolsch bottles, what is the largest?

What is the largest Grolsch bottle made? I know the 1.5L are very common. I've seen one that I'm guessing is around 2.5L in size and was probably used as a Promo. Does anyone know the exact size and where to get them? Thanks.

Why do people like Morebeer so much? I find them a bit pricey. I got a case of 16oz flip-tops for $18 at my LHBS. 6.5 gallon carboy for $28, 5 gallon for $25? Come on. Do they offer free shipping or what?

Perhaps their ingredient/kit quality makes up for the high prices.

Yes. It's plastered quite visibly (in big, blinking letters) on top of every page on their site. Maybe you didn't see it because it looks like an advertisement and your brain subconsciously blocks it out ;-)

You need to order over $49 of stuff to get the free shipping, though. But they offer it on everything (I think), including entire sacks of grain. You also get discount pricing on 4+ sacks per order.

Even if they can't ship it to you, they may be able to explain how you can get one yourself. John's Market is a beer and wine bonanza. They've got entire AISLES of rarely imported beers. Chimay, yeah, they got an aisle for Chimay...

You can reach them by mail at:

John's Market

3535 SW Multnomah Blvd Portland, OR 97219

Or by phone:

word...i'm on it.

I want to try a "real" trappist/abbey...cuz the batches i've made (i've duplicated the same taste twice with subtle differences - different hops) turned out awesome & if i'm anywhere close to the real thing I'll be happy.

I know there are 6's, 8's & 10's...I've only tried an 8 so that's what i'm looking for, but i'm also looking for the other 2 to get a taste & possibly duplicate those. PLUS, i can hopefully culture the yeast since they should all be bottle conditioned.

This place sounds pretty awesome...maybe I'll arrange a road trip this fall.

Thanks a million!!!!

If you ever do make it out this way be sure to stop at Liquid Solutions as well. They also have a killer selection. And of course there's all the brew pubs ;-)

More Beer is very close to me. I have met some of the owners and the guys that run the local shop in so cal are great. You get something from them that is hard to find today "Service" and "Quality". For that it is worth paying a bit more.

BTW 6.5 Gal is 28.50, 5 gal is 25.40 and I believe shipping is free for any order over 49 bucks. So your price comparison rant is totaly pointless.

Well, I found one on eBay in Australia. I'll be keeping my eye on it in hopes the price doesn't climb too high as shipping is going to be very high to the States. It seems, according to the auction description, they had design problems holding up to the pressure and were never offered to the public. It won't be good for holding beer, but will look nice on the bar.

Those are standard German style growlers. I think you can get them filled with beer at certain liqour stores for a lot less than $22.50! Mike Dixon would know better than I, since he's a great fan of german growlers.

Thanks for the link. I didn't get the picture to load so I'm assuming theses are the brown bottles with the flip-top and aluminum handle? Yes, you're right about getting the German style growlers cheaper than that filled with beer. Local breweries charge a $12.00 deposit on the growler bottle and one brewer here requires that you buy the bottle for $10.00 then clean and keep it for refills. I do like the growlers and have a bunch of them. Thanks.

What kind of liqour stores?, do they have them in Texas? I live in the boonies (and in a dry county, no alcohol sales at all). we have to drive 2 hours to get to a homebrew supply, or order online, but if they have someplace in Houston that sells those things already full, I'm there!! it would be worth the trip. Any info? Thanks

Sorry M, no info on beer in Texas other than if it ain't shiner, buckhorn or some kinda beer flavored water, you might be out of luck. (At least according to my Texas girlfriend...)

Here's a site that has them for way cheaper than the previous post:

See the 2 liter "Flipper" for $10.06. That's about right price wise.
