haier kegerator does not seem to get cold enough

I have a newer haier kegerator and my problem is that it does not seem to get cold enough even with the thermostat turned all the way to the cold position. The thing is that the inside metal cooling sheet in the back is icy so it seems like it running correctly. Since the entire sheet is ice I don't know how it could perform any better. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be. The specs for the model say it should get down to 38o but at its coldest setting my thermometer says 48o.

This may be more of a refrigeration question then beer question but I couldn't find any refrigeration news groups.

Thanks for any help.

Unless it's a freezer, there shouldn't be any ice. I suspect that you have a leak somewhere, and warm air is getting in.

Another possibility: if it's used, or if you've had it a long time, dust, pet hair, etc. can collect on the outside cooling coils - usually on the back or on the bottom. When my cat's hair builds up on my house refrigerator's coils the refrigerator looses efficiency so fast it seems as if it's been turned off. A quick vacuum of the coils and it's back to normal.

then your compressor is running non stop, and is like a very bad idea unless you want to replace thewhole kegerator.

the temp should be about midway an ice covering on the coils only acts like an insulator so the cold can not get off the cooling coils.

The thing is that the inside metal cooling sheet in the back is

agreed with Al warm humid air is getting in close the door on a dollar bill and drag it around the sealing gasket if it feels loose, then just have a tech adjust the door the doors sometimes tend to twist. if the gasket is damaged, a tech can replace it

remember always turn off a fridge an hour before you move it. move it like it has a cup of tea inside the fridge don't start the fridge for an hour, when you finish clening up consider yourself a refrigeration apprentice
