You can download a free copy of their DesignPro Limited Edition plus all sorts of label templates. They're designed to be used with Avery Labels, but can also work with plain paper or full sheet gummed paper.

I've used this program for over a year and am pleased with the beer labels and CD labels I've designed. You can import clipart and photos (jpeg, gif, etc,) into your labels, resize, rotate, crop, etc. All in all its a good program AND the price is right. (^U^)

I think I'm going to use 3/4" stickers on the caps for my homebrew. It sounds easy. Where is a good source for labels?

or do a google search for clipart.

I use Avery full-sheet label paper. The entire page is one big sticker. I print my labels whatever size I want then I cut them out using a large straight edge cutter (the big thing with the large blade and handle). If you have access to one, print them using a color laser so they don't run. If you don't, take them to Kinkos or Office Depot or whatever office supply store/printing place is available. I like the Avery label paper because it stays on well when wet, but if you soak it for a while the labels slide right off.
