What sort of bottles did you use? Maybe the tops weren't sealed too good? What temperature did you store the bottles at? Too cold and the fermentation to gas the beer didn't happen. Was it the whole batch, or just one or two bottles? Could be a few things.

Go kegs. Too flat? Turn the gas up. Too gassy? Turn the gas down.

12 oz bottles? My email addy is .au, so I don't speak oz (well we do speak Oz, but that's a different conversation). Are they normal glass bottles with a crown seal?

If so they should be better than plastic screw on lids for holding pressure. 75F? Same problem as before. :-) 23c... oh well that should be fine. How long did you give them to gas up? Couple of weeks?

How did you prime with the 1/2 cup? I'm trying to remember how I used to do it in bottles? The first few batches I did, I primed by putting one teaspoon of sugar into each 750ml bottle. 12oz would be about 350ml, so

1/2 a teaspoon/bottle should do it for you. If I used 1 teaspoon (about 5ml) in 30 bottles, that would be 150ml of sugar for 22.5 litres (6Gal), so 1/2 a cup (about 120ml) should be about right for 5Gal (19L)

I think priming by pouring a mixed solution into the fermenter before bottling is popular on your side of the globe, isn't it? You might need a local to assist with that.

All I've read says about 7/8 of a cup priming sugar. I use 1 cup (for

5 gal). I've used malt, powered sugar, corn sugar. Boil 1 cup of whatever you have in four cups water 10 min or so, cool, and add to wort (mixing well) prior to bottling. Some sugars seem to be faster than others, in three or four weeks I can't tell much difference. Quanity is important, measure, anything more than a cup and you risk bottle bombs. I've never tried spooning sugar into bottles or the priming pills, I think there called lollies.

I only use 3/4 of a cup of corn sugan and 1 cup of water for priming. I have also used malt to prime, about a cup and a quarter, and the one cup of water. You can also use any other "sugar": honey 1 cup, maple syrup

1 1/4 cup, molasses 1 cup, brown sugar 2/3 cup, or cane sugar 2/3 cup. Boil for 10-15 minutes, cool (covered), and add to your bottling bucket, rack the beer, bottle and cap.
