Upgrading a John Bull London Porter kit

The in-laws had heard I'd got into home brewing and kindly bought me a John Bull London Porter kit (1.8kg) for Xmas with a bag of Munton's 'homebrew enhancer' (eeeugh). Trouble is, I've just bought a boiler and am moving onto half mash. So, my puzzle is, what ME, grains and hops do I need to add to the JB LP kit to make it up to 40 pints of porter without using the 'enhancer'?

So far, I'm thinking about 3lbs of amber ME, plus choc or patent malt plus hops in the boil and finishing. Does this sound about right?

Any tips on which hops I should use for an *English* porter?

For 'English' porter I like Perle for bittering and Willamette for flavoring.

Yeah Right

Got my recipe together now, ie: 1 more tin of JB London Porter, 1lb choc malt, 0.25lb black malt, 1oz progress hops for aroma and Danstar Nottingham yeast
