wish to experiment with wine yeast.. HELP

We dont have beer yeast out here. Hell we dont even have beer! I have procured some varieties of Red Star wine yeast from the US. The Pasteur Red and Montrachet and Cotes des Blancs and the popular Past. Champagne. Can i use any of these yeasts to get something close to beer? I also have Bakers yeast. I dont care about the taste much. Just wanna try it as an experiment. Please let me know if the experiment is worth it and if i need to make any changes. Thanks in anticipation.

If all you want to do is peroduce alcohol and you don't care about flavor, go for it. Personally, I wouldn't...

i wouldnt try it either. it will be so very dry.the wine yeast would eat up most of the fermentible surgers that the beer yeast would leve for flavor. where do you live that you cant get beer yeast? you obviously have a computer. Order it online.

If you make a BW with champagne yeast, I can almost guarantee that you'll be disappointed in the results. It's not difficult to get an ale yeast to ferment that high, though. Using the entire slurry of WY1056 from a previous batch and aerating like crazy, I produce BWs that are

12% ABV without champagne yeast.
