Mental Fog / Anxiety Attacks / Sleeplessness / Jitteriness & Chattiness / Difficulty Focusing / Euphoria / Panic Attacks / Confusion & Disorientation / Paranoia / Hostility / Loss of Inhibition / Grandiosity / Self-Mutilation / Delusions / Loss of Natural Judgment / Manic Depression / Zombie-Like Behavior (Masked Facies & Blunted Affect) / Partial or Total Unawareness of Symptoms

Do you or does someone you love exhibit one or more of the above symptoms? If so, he or she may be entangled in the Caffeine Web.

In June 2002 I started drinking coffee for the first time in my life. Over the next 18 months, as I increased my average intake to two or three cups a day, I gradually went from excellent health to psychosis.

In the final weeks of my illness, I lapsed into states in which my eyes glazed over, my face became rigid and I couldn't speak above a whisper.

I was extremely fortunate to discover the cause of the alarming symptoms engulfing me. As I withdrew from caffeine, my symptoms vanished and my health returned, without medication.

During my recovery I found clinical studies of people who had experienced the same symptoms, whose health had also returned after they withdrew from caffeine. I'm afraid countless others have been misdiagnosed as mentally ill and are spending years of their lives, as one caffeine study puts it, "medicated and lost in a dark, disturbed world, until death."

I've created this site to alert people who are suffering from caffeinism, and for anyone who may recognize a loved one behind its insidious and sometimes horrifying symptoms.

Please consult a doctor before acting on the information on this site. However, don't ignore your gut instinct if you sense you are under the influence of a psychoactive drug. If you're ingesting caffeine in any form, you are.

Note: Not all of the symptoms listed above need to be present, and others that are not listed, including headache and heartburn, may be.
