Clear/Transparent Tea Glasses - where to buy?

Can someone recommend where to purchase clear tea glasses, that are affordable? Preferably not on-line... Looking for something not too heavy, but comfortable.

Which assumes that uconn is actually in the States. Not being funny here, either. But it really doesn't do us any good to offer suggestions of locations without knowing the origin of the question.

Stash has tons of clear tea stuff. Although I must admit I'm not really a fan of clear tea pots or cups. Tea looks nice against a white ceramic background, but for some reason it just doesn't look that appetizing to me in a clear glass container.

try whole foods-they carry glass items- you might also try

formatting link
or zackusa.com for jenaer glass items- both do't charge a fortune to ship items-

You didn't give us much specifics but any well stocked store that sells kitchen ware will have glasses with handles for hot beverages. They're made out of some silicate like Pyrex for temperature extremes. You'll see them in Indian restaurants served with Chai. Don't worry so much about the word tea. It is easy to find French presses of various sizes. Just remove the lid and plunger. That leaves an out of place spout on the rim but otherwise makes a great glass cup cradled in a plastic wrap around handle which serves as protection from hitting up against something. I just abandoned my porcelain mug of many decades for just a setup. Mine came from an Asian store with a plastic jade color cradle with dragon motif for $5. I still use that old mug to reheat tea in a microwave. The glass cools faster than porcelain but I can peer into the cup when I drink and appreciate the color.

Which assumes that Wal-mart only has stores in the United States, if you want to get picky about it.

Some teas 'look' really cool, though. Get some qing shan lv shui and put it in a clear glass cup. It looks quite beautiful. The same goes for some other greens like zhu ye qing.

I'm a big fan of watching the 'agony of the leaves' in a glass pot. I just recently switched to a stripped down French press (thin wall beaker and plastic cradle only) to appreciate the color of the tea when I drink it. This one is 500 ml. It was hard finding a glass mug that big, light and impervious to temperature variation. I'm getting more lazy each year. Glass is still subject to mineral and tannin buildup but much, much, much easier to clean without leaving a tell tale residue. You need to watch puerh fizz when brewing. My experience white ceramic backgrounds don't stay white for very long.

residue.

appetizing

You can try places like Bed bath and beyond or linens n things and even target for clear tea pots. Bodum's Assam line are pretty great.

I concur, it doesn't have to necessarily come from a high class tea vendor or something (unless you wanted to purchase it there). All you need really is a clear glass of reasonable height depending on what tea you want to them for.

You don't have to pay retail prices for Bodum. In my metro area you can find the product line discounted at TJMax,Ross,BigLots,Tuesday Morning. It's not always on the knick knack shelves but if you're in no rush. I never bought one of those Bodum Assam pots. First they too small for my use and second reminds me of a coffee pot. My current 1 liter pot is a modified Bodum french press. I've seen whole sets of glass service teaware in the Arabic stores.

Tea also stains teeth.

I keep my bone china pots white-as-new with an occasional hand-rubbing with a solution of water & baking soda.
