Eastrise Orchid Oolong

At a very good, local Chinese restaurant I was served Eastrise Orchid Oolong with my meal. I discovered the name of the vendor with some gentle prodding; but, have been unable to find this tea retail. This was a very subtle orchid oolong, no visible flowers and very delicate. The scent overtone took a background place in what seemed to be a tasty Dan Chong. Does anyone know where to buy this tea retail? I am assuming this tea is inexpensive, since it is an option in a Bay Area restaurant - although, it was $4.00 a pot. Any info is much appreciated. Xie! Xie! Shen

They used to have a web site here:

but it seems to be gone. It wasn't much of a site anyway. They did seem to have a pretty good selection, though I never got anything from them. Not much help - sorry.

Hey Shen,

Sorry that I can't help with that particular tea, I know how it feels to have an amazing tea and then find there is either no more of it available or worse yet not be able to track it down. The closest tea to what you describe that I could point you to would be Teaspring's Song Zhong Dan Chong. It has a very subtle orchid note, but very present, and stands right with the actual Dan Chong just as you state. Maybe it will offer a reasonable analog? Best of luck in your quest!

Dominic, Thanks so much! I did forget (think I need more tea) that I actually have that Dan Chong in my pantry, along with their Classic Dan Chong which I enjoyed, as well. This orchid did have a distinctly different taste (almost a faint hint of punch or compote - odd). Imperial Tea Court has an Orchid Oolong that I enjoy greatly. Roy "flowers" it himself. But, that is definitely floral. I'm sure Eastrise tea will cross my path somewhere............ Shen
