Tea references Ayn Rand We The Living

The time period is 1923-25 Petrograd. Although not a biography Ayn Rand said "She lived the character". This is a time of State rationing and limited privatation called New Economic Policy(NEP). Tea seems to be readily available. The book isnt clear how it is obtained. Sugar is so scarce only saccharine used in the tea when served from samovar is only obtainable from NEP stores. Every politico, sociologist, psychologist, philosopher has an opinion of this book. My take Dont Fall In Love During A Revolution.

PS I found it interesting Google Books didnt give every reference to tea or saccharine in its search function.

I just finished Tyrannosaur Canyon by Douglas Preston which had a two page description of British morning tea with all the pastries. I will say the British figured out the link between tea and food. That is the success of my local British tea shoppe. You have to book in advance for their tea and chocolate. I never developed a taste for chocolate. The last time I remember you were back packing through Yunnan.

Lew, no adventures apart from the humdrum daily ...

Jim, yep, happily spent about 4 months of 08-09 between Kunming and the mountains to the west ... since then, refer to 'Lew, no adventures...' above.

Likewise, I'm not a great chocolate fan (or great fan of chocolate). I used to like 'chocolate notes' in beer but have even grown away from these. A sprinkling of a very cocoa-ey dian hong in my assam, however, and a very hot flannel is needed to wipe the smile from my face!
