I know this sounds very, very weird.
But... there is a whole range of tea that seems mostly to be sold for Japanese restaurants, which consists of an inexpensive and bland tea in a bag, powdered with matcha. The end result tastes more or like matcha at a fraction of the price of the real thing.
Yamamotoyama makes it. Ito-En makes it, and the Ito-En green tea is sold by Costco.
And, believe it or not, this stuff actually makes interesting iced tea. It has a bit of that flowery matcha taste to it.
I have also made iced tea with the cheap yellow box jasmine tea. My ex claimed it was like drinking pancake makeup but it also didn't work out too badly.
Mind you, there are far better green teas of every possible type but it seems a waste to use a subtle tea for making iced tea with.
