UK mail order source for Russian Caravan

I am a newbie to this very promising looking (and established) Newsgroup. My query is simple enough. I am based in Ireland and I came across Russian Caravan blend from Fortnum and Masons after a trip to London about a year ago. I've also bought some loose Russian Caravan from a market stall in Cambridge. This is an extremely refreshing blend with a fantastic delicate flavour. I appreciate their are subtle differences in the way different blenders blend the stuff. What I am looking for is a recommendation of a mail order source (based in UK/England - Ireland is a dead loss for a blend as non mainstream as Russian Caravan and more is the pity!...). The Fortnum blend is very good IMHO.

I've visited the Fortnum & Mason's (European postage rates/minimum order expensive), Whittards of Chelsea and Grey's Tea websites. Grey's looks to be the best value for mail order and I've read good reviews of Whittards Russian Caravan in the archives of this NG. If anyone can provide a recommendation of a source in the UK for a really good Russian Caravan blend I would really appreciate it. If the postage rates are keen I may even look at a source outside of UK (eg USA). I'm just thinking of getting a few 125g bags of blended leaves for my own use (non commercial)

Have a good cuppa today.

Try UK based Nothing But Tea

They do a very nice one equivalent to Russian Caravan under the name of Smoky Caravan in their black China tea section. Added advantage to a prompt order is that it is currently selling at 20% discount - and all Nothing But Tea mail order sales to UK addresses are postage free.

Have a look through their other teas too - a very nice collection of rare and exotic teas including exclusive Kenya orthodox black teas.

Nigel,

An interesting shop/company which I was unaware of and the prices seem keen. However, the description of Smokey Caravan in their online catalog seems to suggest it is 100% Lapsang Souchong rather than the varieties of Russian Caravans which I have so far sampled which tend to have a small subtle percentage of Lapsang to give a subtle smoky colouring to the flavour.

I'll telephone them next week in any case for clarification and for postal rates to Ireland. Thanks for the link and the recommendation.

regards,

--Ian.
