51 yr old Lagavulin...

I am not scotch drinker (ergo I know very little about scotch), but my father-in-law (who is also not a scotch drinker) recently disclosed to me that he has an unopened bottle of Lagavulin that he bought in either 1968 or 1969 that was (then?) 16 yr-old. I don't know if scotch continues to mature after bottling (I believe not), but I am wondering what the possible value of this bottle might be... any alt.drinks.scotch-whisky pros who might know?

Please advise by reply-post to this newsgroup!

Thanks, Jeremy Fraser

A whisky does not continue maturing after bottling. So your 16 yo Lagavulin remains a 16 yo, even after 35 years. The Lagavulin 16 yo is still a best seller in the world of Scotch, but I have no idea how much your bottle can worth now. I imagine it could be interesting for collectors. You could have a try on
