Aberlour A'bunadh - no mustiness??

I just opened a new bottle of my favorite (a'bunadh), but was surprised that the mildew/must note was absent. By all accounts, it's still my fav', but I was a bit saddened at the loss of this characteristic. Has anyone else noticed this trend, or does any of you have any insight as to why? This bottle was from batch No 16., probably purchased but not opened 2 or 3 years ago.
