Hi,

in the early ninties I got this bottle from a friend (see detailed photos, clicking the links).

After the dead of his old boss, followed by liquidation of the company, my friend found some of these bottles during cleanup efforts in the wine-cellar (the company was not a small one and the boss an old-fashioned german business men who came to wealth in the 50ies&60ies, in the time called "Wirtschafstwunder"- he had his wine-cellar in his company, to serve business partners). I got one of these bottles as a gift.

The boss orderd these bottles perhaps in the 60ies, probably earlier. They were forgotten in a dark part of the mentioned cellar.

The brand is "White horse" and there is a metal clamp/spring cap (?) on it. The bottle is still filled with the original whisky. On the front label there is a Nr. on it: 2702854 (Could it be a _unique_ Number really?)

Would be nice, if I would get some informations about the age of this bottle. Would I get a good price for it? Is the whisky still drinkable?

Thx in advance,

Hans.

P.S.: Sorry, my mailadress will not be checked regularly, so please answer just in here.

Can't answer your question exactly, but White Horse is a respected blend, especially earlier versions of it, which were famous for having a large proportion of Lagavulin in the blend.

has a bit of information and talks about auction prices for White Horse from the 1930s and '40s. It was going for several hundred British pounds a bottle.

Going by the posts at that link, I'd say a visit to Christies auctioneers might be in order. If they have a catalogue online, it might have what you're looking for.
