Dalmore Cigar Malt

My local state liquor store has Dalmore Cigar Malt on sale this month. It is about the same price as the regular Dalmore 12 yo, but it has no age statement. Is this a serious malt? Is it worth the try? Any idea how old it really is??

Looks interesting *if* you smoke cigars or you don't mind buying a whisky that may be an acquired taste.

It's up to 20 years and more. In fact, it's an old malt and there are only a few young parts in it. You should try it, it's worth definitely.

What Andreas and Drinky said. It really does go very well with a fine cigar, but it's a great malt to start with. I like it better than other Dalmore expressions.

I totally agree. Also goes well with a light Danish tobacco and a cool pipe (eg. reading pipe)...

I'd rather drink the malt first and smoke the cigar later. When your dealing with fine nuances of flavours in tobacco or Scotch. why make it difficult for yourself by sampling them together???

I have to admit to being easily confused...

Reason being is that I don't study either too much while I'm enjoying them. I find that a nice cigar really compliments a nice malt. However, for the cigar alcohol combo bourbon takes the cake hands down.

Well, for the flip side of the coin, I've never tasted it and never will, simply because it's got the word "cigar" in its name. For me and my wife, too many good drinking places have been ruined by the stink of cigars, especially when they sell them there as well.

So Larry, You wouldn't happen to be cigarette smokers by any chance?

I'm just curious why SELLING cigars in a drinking place makes them especially smelly.

No, we're non-smokers.

It doesn't, at least not directly. Selling them simply attracts more cigar smokers, which in turn results in smellier, smokier premises.

I've never minded pipe smoke; I've just always thought that cigars smell foul.

Fair enough!

You really should try the Dalmore though. Its a quite tasty malt with no hint of cigar smoke.
