Eagle Rare 13yo bourbon?

Hope it's OK to post on corn likker here; US spirits seem to lack their own site (at least on my news server).

A buddy of mine in London likes the Eagle Rare 10yo bourbon, and asked me to bring some back. (I liked the 17yo better, but perhaps not US$50 worth!) I found a spirits shop near Boston called Glendale that has the same bottle/label, but with a tag indicating that contents are 13 years old, special house bottling.

Anyone know if this is as good (or better)? Price is right, but I don't want to disappoint my friend.

Cheers-

Ctenos

Wow, I obviously never tried it but if I saw it I'd pickup a bottle without thinking twice.

There are a few big retailers that buy casks from the distillers and put their own labels on it. I have not heard of a 13 yr. Eagle Rare, but if the price is right, grab it.

Well, here's the scoop: we got a whole case of the stuff, which turned out to be superb - less complex than the 17yo, IMO, but perhaps smoother

- and at half the price. Went back for more, but all gone.

I did get the scoop from the store owner: a few people from a collaborative called Bottles went down to Buffalo Trace, and made a barrel selection. They put out a few hundred cases around October

Here's the good news: they do it every year. So come back next Halloween... Meanwhile, for the quality, I think the 10- and 17yo are both pretty good deals - better than most bourbon and even the majority of single-malt whisky varieties. I'm a convert!
