Well... I think Irish whiskey is amongst the best in the world, although I doubt fecking whiskey will be top of my list. IMO, some of the pure pot still Irish are the best whisk(e)y of any type available. Feckin Whiskey is just a cheap Cooley blend, which doesn't mean it will be bad, but I doubt it will be great.

Having sampled examples of almost all Scottish and Irish malt whiskies, I would consider the phrase "top-class" Irish whiskey to be an oxymoron. Can't say whether that applies to blended whisk(e)y because I don't touch the stuff. IMHO Irish malt whisky, in spite of its triple-distillation, rates no more than 7/10.

Well, have you really tried all irish and all scotch? And all scotch malts are better than irish?

Not all irish is tripple distilled and not all scotch only twice. Someone likes the fruitness of irish pot still, another the smoke and peat from Islay. How to compare?

I like some irish malts as well as some scotch, but I won't give an overall vote.

I was only expressing an opinion

I am aware of the vary numbers of distillations of different malts. The Scottish triple-distilled are, again in my opinion superior to Irish malts

I have tried at least one whisky from all the distilleries that have been available since I started drinking single malt.

I find Irish malts tend to be too sweet for my palate. Whilst none are bad, none scale the heights of the great Scottish malts, and I doubt whether I'd rate any Irish malts in my top 25.

But some Scottish malts don't rate very highly. I've never come across an Old Fettercairn that rates better than 6/10.

But we are after all. comparing the luxury cars of the whisky market, so it's all relative.

Yes, it is just opinion in the end of the day. To say it is inferior is wrong, though. I appriciate that some people don't like it though. Irish whiskey would do much better than it does if you stripped the world of its preconcieved notions and pomposity. That's why Irish whiskey does so well in blind tastings. Sorry, I am not accusing anyone here of this.

Unfortunately, a good range of Irish is not available everywhere, but if you look at the rat> >

With a name like Feckin, I can certainly see the ooze. :)
