Funniest whisky tour I have ever had

Last week I was assisting a friend who does custom tours of Scotland. He had a bunch of Swedes from a large company wanting to do some touring pf Speyside destilleries. We took them to the Craigellachie Hotel and did the touring from there. Tasted a wonderfull expression of Craigellachie itself. Very surprising malt indeed. Creamy almost butter like in taste. Glenfarclas and Glenfiddich were also nice enough, but the funniest tour was at Aberlour. At Aberlour we were led around by an older gentleman called Dennis. I am telling you, he was one of the best stand up commedians I have seen in a long time. After you have visited a few destilleries you get fed up with hearing of the process of malt whisky. There is not much difference between one and the other in the process at least. But with Dennis it was different. He had me in tears with laughter. Even the normally dour Swedes ( they were from a rail company inside the artic circle) were squealing with laughter at his antics. It was the high point of our tour just listening to him. After the tour we got to sample 6 different expressions of Aberlour. Two of our party bought a bottle of a'Bunadh which they were allowed to bottle themselves and even with this Dennis managed to make it so funny. All in all I am starting to think that for me, my favourtie single malts are not really so much my own taste as I thought, but more the company I am drinking it in making the memory of it so nice. Of course I do enjoy a dram on my own now and again and inevitably I was drinking Caol Ila or Ardbeg on my own. But since this recent trip I have been enjoyoying my Glenfarclas 21 year old at 46% ABV. But for the memory I like also my Aberlour 12 from sherry casks.

Peace,
