It might help if you said where in the world you are.

If you're talking about whisky glasses, I've bought them from Royal Mile Whiskies. They ship worldwide.

In hindsight, that might have seemed a little snippy on my part - it wasn't intended, I assure you.

As someone else has suggested, if you're in the UK then Royal Mile do some good ones for a fairly reasonable price.

The Glencairn Whiskey tumbler is favored by many :

I on the other hand do not like it as I think the opening is to narrow. (It is also sold by

as Nick pointed out..) - I prefer my Whiskey Glass to be quite small with a wide opening som that the fragances mix with the air fast..

I have several stemmed nosing glasses of various styles I use for port. My favorite is what royalmilewhisky calls "the Ardbeg noser" [minus that cap] that work very well.

It opens up the bouquets and then funnels it back at you. I picked up my set from the Fetzer Winery in California.

I

I have a couple of Dartington Crystal tumblers that I favour for larger measures. I couldn't find them on their website but the resemble the Glencairn one in that they are wide at the bottom and narrow at the top but not quite so narrow.

For the rare occasions I have a smaller measure I have a Scotch Malt Whisky Society glass that I was allowed to hold on to after a visit to Galactic HQ some time ago.

We use the Glencairn glass at our tastings in Portland, OR. We purchased them through Malt Advocate magazine

We're trying out some of the new David Johnson Whisky Tot glasses because of the flared opening. You can get these at Malt Advocate or other online shops like the Wine Rack Superstore

In the US I haven't found a great selection at brick and mortar shops, so I primarily buy glasses online.

Hmm... tastings in Portland. Ian, how many people usually attend your tastings? I'm in Portland and have a decent wall

but usually just enjoy with my couple of friends who appreciate it. Actually, usually I just enjoy it by myself. :-)

Back on topic, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Riedel Malt Glass... this is my favorite. Look at the review of 6 glasses here:

As you can see, for nosing the Riedel malt glass came in last. However, he said for TASTING, it was the best, with each malt getting at least a full point higher with the Riedel glass. First for nosing is the huge Cognac snifter. I have both... I usually drink out of the Riedel malt glass because I've never been good at nosing, and tasting is what I really appreciate. The malt glasses are great. When I'm in the mood to really experience the nose, I pull out the massive Riedel snifters (which holds something like 33oz). That David Johnson glass looks interesting... I have enough scotch glassware for now, though. Need to get some dessert glasses before anything else.

Perhaps because I'm a heavy smoker, I prefer the narrow opening and a watchglass or glass cap to concentrate the fragrance. I never add ice, which makes each sip weaker then the last, nor do I add water. Even with a CS, I swirl the sip around in my mouth, allowing saliva to mix with it as I savour the flavour.

I actually like the small Riedel COGNAC glass much better! Check it out here:

Chose "collections", "Riedel collections", then "vinum", and click "next" 3 times: The glass I refer to is called "cognag hennessy" 416/71. Much better shape, a good stem, and has that same good rim as the Riedel malt whisky glass you refer to.
