Glenrothes 1992 + Scotch storing question

Has anyone here tired the Glenrothes 1992? If so, I'd be interested in your impressions and what I should expect to pay.

Available here for $49 and thinking of adding to my small yet growing collection. The vintage idea is different from other things I have and of course depending on how one looks at it, their presentation is at least interesting (overstated?).

Question #2: A while ago, someone gave me a gift of a Chivas Royal Salute. At the time I wasn't much interested and left it sitting in the closet for a couple of years. By the time I took it out and tried to open it, I found the cork had become crumbly and kind of disintigrated into the bottle when I tried to open it!!!

Now I'm collecting a couple of single malts and maybe some (like a Lagavulin

16), I'd like to duplicate my bottles and put the second purchase away for a long time. Is there some best way to store scotch so the cork doesn't go bad and best way to keep the contents safe? Should I store upright or on the it's side? Any ideas or discussion would be helpful.

Ideally, I'd just like to keep them all on a shelf in my office where if I'm not drinking them, at least I can see and enjoy the fact that they are there for me. :-)

Thanks,

Willie

I've been storing mine standing straight up but my bottles don't usually last long enough to where I worry about a rotting cork. :-)

Hi, The Glenrothes 1992 is a vey good whiskey:Fruity, spicy, sweetish with a quite short finish, but for the price I can think a few whiskey's which I would buy before it. But saying that if you can find the Provence Glenrothes Over 13 Years buy it!It's superb sherry, friut, sweet malt and a warming finish that goes on for ever. The best Speyside I have ever tried! Drew
