Hi Group,
can anybody tell me why Lagavulin 12 Years is dearer (more expensive) than the normal 16 years one? I made a bet and i won it but now i have to put out a statement about the reasons.
Thanks and greetings from Bavaria ;-)

cause the 12yo is bottled at ~58% (1st release was 58.0%, 2nd and 3rd releases were 57.8%), the 16yo is bottled at 43.0%.

Taking a moment's reflection, Thomas Wildgruber mused: | | can anybody tell me why Lagavulin 12 Years is dearer (more expensive) than | the normal 16 years one? I made a bet and i won it but now i have to put | out a statement about the reasons.
Out of curiosity ... how did you manage to *win* the bet without, apparently, proving your case first? Seems if it was determined by all that you won the bet, the "statement about the reasons" would be how it was determined.
If the bet was which whisky is the more expensive you only need a couple of price labels :-)
Steffen
The question was, which one is the cheaper one and not why...
...so we take a look in a pricelist and so it was determined which whisky is more expensive. Everybody said the younger one is in any case the cheaper one, but i affirm the opposite. Nobody couldn't believe it and so i have to bring the reason -> which i don't knew ;-)

A quick google shows that at least one bottling of Lagavulin 12 is cask strength, which I expect might explain the higher price compared to the 16.

The 12yo is more expensive because this is a cask strength whisky,
57.80% while the Lagavulin 16yo is bottled at 43% !!!DrinksForum website is not affiliated with any of the manufacturers or service providers discussed here. All logos and trade names are the property of their respective owners.
