Moving to alcohol control state: Need help!

Hi all, I need the group conciousness!

I'm going to be moving to Oregon within the next two months. The selection is more limited and the prices much higher than I am used to. ie I can get Laphroaig at Trader Joes for $30 and it is $50 in Oregon. Over the last few months I have built up one case of scotch to take with me and I was hoping for some suggestions for the contents of a second case.

Here's what I have so far:

2 Lagavulin Laphroiag 1/4 Cask Laphroaig 15 year Springbank 10 100p Ardbeg Airigh Nam Beist Ardbeg Uigeadail Talisker 18 Aberlour A'Bunadh GlenFarclas 17 Glenlivet 18 Caol Ila 12 Bowmore 18

What I have open right now is: Highland Park 15 cs single cask Lagavulin Bowmore 17 Finlaggan

As you can see, I prefer the smokey peaty stuff, or as my wife calls them... "the wet campfire drinks" I am not adverse to trying other profiles though; I thoroughly enjoyed the Springbank 10, A'Bunadh, and Glenfarclas 105.

I have two very good liquor stores nearby with fantastic selections/prices, so I should be able to find most anything. Any input and suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance Bill P

p.s. recent comments will lead me to try the Clynelish 14 and the Peat Freak data base...Thanks!

Bill,

If you can find Laphroaig 10 yo Cask Strength you may want to stock up on that. It's a real smooth and tasty Laphroaig. Also the Talisker Distillers Edition is very good. While in Oregon, see if you can find some McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt Whiskey or McMenamin's Hogshead Whiskey to get into the local mood.

Enjoy!

get a case or two of finlaggan. that should be in the $300 range. then? buy enough johnnie walker black to holidayize with the less scotch aware for 2-3 years.... after sportin' them with johnnie walker black, its their turn to sport you.

cheers! Doc

I'm certain that I should understand that ... but I do not.

You have plenty. By the time you drink that stock down, you'll have made a trip to CA anyway.

There's no practical point to having too many bottles. At some stage, you'll have amassed more than you can drink in your lifetime. My 125 or so bear testimony to this fact.
