Typical triple-distilled Irish. A bit sweeter character than most Scotch. Good, but undistinguished. I find it pleasant enough alternating sips with a pint of Guinness.

For something more complex in an Irish, you might hunt up a bottle of either Redbreast or Green Spot. They're both excellent.

I love Irish whiskey, but also lean toward the traditional Pure Pot Still expressions like Redbreast and Greenspot. Also from the Midleton distillery is Jameson 15yo-- a gem if you can still find it.

Tyrconnell is produced at Cooley and I thought it was double distilled. I admire Cooley's willingness to try new ideas for Irish, but Connemara is their only whiskey that I'm a huge fan of.
