Other malts

There seems to have been a whole host of discussion here on mostly Islay malts. I too love there salty peaty tangy taste, but there are days when I want something else, something more subtle and gentle, or with a different kind of bite. So when I open a new bottle to sample, I'll be happy to post my opinions of it here. Expect to see mention of some distinctly less popular malts, and some that are not as distinguished as others.

My 10 favourite malts?

Maybe it's me. Maybe it's the version we can get here in North Carolina. In any case, I am distinctly unimpressed with the standard Isle of Jura (10 yo ??). It kinda reminds me of the blends we swilled as kids in the 60's and 70's. King William if memory serves. No peat, no smoke, and not much malt.

Maybe Jura has improved. I have not bought a bottle in 3 or 4 years. If I ever see a bottle of Superstition, I'll be forced to give it a try.

Mine was yet another Cadenhead bottled 10yo at 63.9 ABV.. when that's gone maybe Jura will drop out of my top 10, but this is pretty cool

Outstanding. We can't wait to see these opinions as you enjoy a dram.

I'm in North Carolina also. Sometimes I go over the border to a place called Southern Spirits. Very nice selection of Single Malts and also small batch and single barrel bourbons. Anyhow, they carry Superstition (Which I have tried) I rather liked it. Interesting that neat and with a dash of water is like two different drams. I need to get it again as I found it more appealing than the standard bottling.
