I normally use Maker's Mark in drinks such as Manhattan or Old Fashishioned.
Wanted to branch out to other Bourbons. Some recommendations? Thanks!

Fashishioned.
Any of the older Van Winkles, particularly the Pappy Van Winkel 20 or
22 yr, should you ever come across a bottle. Amazing liquid.-- Larry
The best Bourbon I have tried (It's not that many) is Elijah Craig. The only Bourbon I have had with some kind of complexity in it
It's nice

I have a bottle of Knob Creek at home which I bought with the intention of it being the "everyday/sharing" bourbon. It's very nice; it's a
10-year b ourbon from the Jim Beam folks, I think.
Expensive?
I think I paid 22 bucks for a fifth, so I'd call that "no".
Yeah, that is same ballpark as Maker's Mark.
In your opinion, is Knob Creek better than Maker's Mark?
I like it better than MM. MM has a more pronounced corn flavor; the Knob Creek has more oak / charcoal flavor. Also, MM is a sour mash, not sure if Knob Creek is or not.
When I was a kid, I remember we toured the Maker's Mark distillery. The smell of the vats was _wonderful_. Looking back, I wonder if my like for Whisky may have been started there?

One thing that sort of annoys me -- in a mild way -- is the stupid wax thing on the MM bottles.
(shrug) OK, well then you may be annoyed by Knob Creek too; they have a wax seal as well. Never bothered me, I dunno, and looks nice enough on the back bar. The wax seal on the KC is just there until you remove it to uncork the bottle the first time, though.

Well, the annoyance ends as soon as I take that first sip of MM. :-)
So it's a mild annoyance then, rather than a lingering one. That's good.
Fashishioned.
Elijah Crain is my all time favorite. I love the stuff. Whisky Magazine named it whisky of the year for two years in a row.

In my opinion, I'd rather have a shot of Knob Creek than a shot of Maker's Mark. However, Woodford Reserve is in the same price range, and that would be another option. All three are very fine examples of Bourbon Whisk[e]y. If I were forced to choose just one, it'd be Woodford Reserve, with Knob Creek in a very close finish with the Maker's Mark (I find that the the Maker's Mark is a bit "harsh" for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on).
Regards, Rob
Knob Creek is excellent bourbon. 100 proof by the way. If you nose it, you can definetely smell the corn, and it has a sort of sweetness to it as well. Makers Mark is much milder, sort of like the difference between Glenlivet and Ardbeg.
Knob Creek is really a top notch bouron, and imo, light years ahead of Makers Mark.
It's not an Bourbon, but my favorite American whiskey is Van Winkle 13yo Family Reserve Rye. Fantastic, if you can find it. My local shops carry it only sporadically.
I looked at some bourbons. In the past, I have almost always been really happy with their Scotch reviews so I am sure their Bourbon reviews are good, too. Here are a few:
Maker's Mark
Knob Creek 9 YO
Buffalo Trace
Booker's
Wild Turkey Rare Breed
all of it.... it comes straight out of the barrel! no water added.
cheers! Doc
