Sad day

So tonight I watched the last drop of my bottle of Glenderonach 15yr fall.

I have looked for another bottle, but have not found one here in Vancouver.

I have even looked online at the Kensington wine market in Calgary, which I know has a vast selection - nothing.

So until I find another bottle, I will be sad as this is my current favorite. Till then, I will drown my sorrows with a dram or two or three with another in my selection.

As I enjoy the flavor of the sherry cask, can anyone suggest another with similar flavor?

Fill your boots: the king of sherried malts, the Aberlour a'bunadh. Breathtaking, cask strength and does for sherry what the Ardbeg 10 does for peat. About $70 at most Vancouver liquor stores.

Hi Prophet

I heard or read somewhere that the Glenfronach 15 is going out and there's a

12y coming instead. Can't remember where and is not 100% sure Maybe it has something to do with the distillery being silent for (a) period(s). Maybe there's some more knowledge out there with somebody?

Instead you could go for any of the sherried whiskyes and there's not that many

Macallan Glenfarclas Aberlour Edradour

Steffen

PS Other destilleries sometimes have speciel sherry bottlings or you might look for some independent bottlings

Don't confuse it with the much cheaper Aberlour 10, which is a decent but not terribly distinguished malt. It's the Aberlour a'bunhadh you want.

Let us know what you thought of it. I found it best with a few drops of water, and a bit overwhelming without.

Strangely, the a'bunadh has gone from my only whisky deemed too powerful for me to taste to my absolute favorite...although I have to admit that my favorite changes often. I guess I've grown into cask appreciation. I have determined that this is necessary to have in the rotation at all times.
