I bought the "six classic malts" 6 x 5cl set twice last year. I have to admit that theese two times are the only occations on which I have had the Talisker 10 before now.
I also have to admit I didn't think all that highly about it. Still, there was something.. And it is so highly rated by so many, so I figured I would give it a real chance, and recently went and bought a full bottle. And it so happened that I got the new version that comes in a blue box (used to be black). And I find it simply great! It suddenly is one of my favourites!
Those 5 cl samples (bought 2004) were definately tamer. So has it changed for the better? Or maybe it has become it's older self again - I mean, if it was better in earlier years? I can't tell, I haven't had it before last year. But I seem to remember having read some place that Talisker has had a period with shortage of good 10 year old casks recently?
What's your opinion, folks?
