Tasting Notes Needed

I have been asked by my Single Malt Tasting Society, (Companions of the Quaich), to lead a tasting of the 21 year old Royal Brackla, cask strength (63.3&).

I can find nothing on this expression. Brackla's web site does not seem to mention it and neither does Jackson.

Anybody got any notes or experience?

Thanks, Bill Wyman

Hi Bill,

Brackla used to be owned by UDV and had a 10 year old bottling under the Flora & Fauna range. They have since been bought up by Dewar's (parent company Bacardi) along with Aberfeldy and a few others. No new official bottling has been made available since. Brackla is clean and fruity (apples, pears, melons) on the palate, getting creamy and sweeter with age. There is a bottling of 20 year old Brackla under the Rare Malts label and Murray McDavid have one around

18 years of age as well. I think Signatory also have one. This older 21 year old Brackla you are tasting should go over well with Speyside fans... I myself would recommend it as a digestif to go with the dessert course.
