you are not supposed to store whisky where it is in direct sunlight even evening sunlight.. The light of a single candle ... that is the light by which to admire your glass collection.

I sampled a Scoresby just this evening and found it to be very similar to Dewar's White Label or Teacher's. I'd say it was much better than Johnnie Walker Red but I remain more a fan of single malt scotch than blends. I find the grain alcohol used in the blends to be a little off-putting for my taste.

If you are still looking for real bargain basement whiskey try buying a one liter bottle of 190 proof Everclear grain alcohol and pour it into a used glass gallon jar. Next, buy some Jack Daniels wood chips and place then in the oven. Turn the heat on broil and watch the wood chips for the first signs of smoke. Remove the chips, cool for a few minutes and then put enough chips in the jug to get about two inches of wood floating on the surface. Wait 10 days and pour off the brown liquid through a flour sifter to catch the big chunks. You will now have a cheap whiskey that will have the sweet smokey vanilla-oak and caramel flavors found in most whiskies. You can add your favorite water to rectify the alcohol to about 80-90 proof. You'll have around 1.5 liters of whiskey that you paid about six dollars for. Feel free to substitute any clear spirit and for real authenticity, use oak chips instead of sugar maple or hickory. To keep it affordable, stay away from expensive designer alcohol. After your first successful batch you may never go back to paying for the premanufactured whiskey again.

This is a tried and true GI recipe used on the frontlines of recent conflicts I attended personally and its guaranteed to get you toasted and leave a long after taste a lot of folks call a finish. This finish will last until you brush your teeth twice. Don't worry if you spill any of it. A side benefit is its ability to sterilize any surface it comes in contact with so spilling a little will have some unintended health benefits.

Good luck Bob, Tell me how it turns out...

I forgot to mention that part of the recipe and manufacturing process requires discretion. Come to think of it...We didn't give much thought to death by whiskey at the time. This might require a warning on the label.

To Bob...I ramble only because I drink a lot of premanufactured designer whisky. And, I never check the price, it gets in the way of my decision making process.
