Whisk podcast?

Are there any good whisky podcasts out there? A cursory glance at the iTunes Music Store suggests the answer is 'no'.

I have to admit to not really knowing what a podcast is, but is this any use?

That's actually the only one I could find. I haven't had chance to listen to many of them yet to determine if it's any good or not.

Oh, a 'podcast' is just an audio file that you download - typically an mp3 file. It's a bit like home-grown radio except it's not broadcast. Some of them are very good, most are fair, some are awful and everyone's taste is different :-)

I wonder if the regulars who post here would consider doing one?

How about whenever we get a whisky we do an audio recording of our thoughts on it? It wouldn't need to be very long - say 5 minutes - and we could build up an audio library. It would also be interesting to have more than one review of a whisky, to get different viewpoints.

Just a thought. I might be able to host it myself if needs be...

I would like to hear a podcast for whisky drinkers who want to better understand the taste in whisky. Say a podcast featuring Highland Park 12 and Caol Ila 12 or whatever. You could get yourself a bottle of each. Poor a dram of each. Then listen to an expert explain one then the other and how to interpret the different tastes. I guess what I'm talking about is a whiskey appreciation class podcasted.

At this stage of the game I've got no fixed ideas as to the format - I just see a gap in the podcasts out there and I'd love to be able to help to fill it. I think I'd still like to go with the reviews if people would be willing to record their thoughts on a certain dram. Trouble is I've had very little in the way of response so far, so I'm not sure people actually want this. We'll see, it's early days yet.
