Whisky Live Glasgow 2006

Just wondering, but are anyone here within this group got some plans to visit Whisky Live Glasgow 2006? Since I'm not able to attend myself I would really like to see some kind of user review.

I have tickets for the Friday night and will take one of the Master Classes as well. I do wish I could go to the one in George Square in Glasgow though. I will post a review of the Dutch one afterwards.

Hi Jock - have you been to the cloggyfest before? I missed the Groningen one last year and this Leiden one is a bit of a trek from Friesland, by the time you add in a hotel and EUR40 a head entrance fee.

Are you able to give a precis on whether it might be worth the trip?

for this and your nibbles advice, cheers,

The Groningen one was not THE International Fest. This one in Leiden has been held there for 3 years now, before that it was The Hague and before that the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam. I have been going for years now. I live in Arnhem and usually take the last train home. But a couple pf years ago I stayed over in a hotel in The Hague and Jim Murray was there as well. Was a good laugh. I highly recommend it in Leiden. The big church is an excellent venue for it and other than the whisky, the music is decent as well and the food. Your nibble question can be well and truly answered there:-) Michael Jackson will attend this year and, well even though its a fair trip down from Friesland, it will be well worth it if you are really into SMSW. Not only that, but I have discovered some serious Canadian ones there as well. I doubt if you could commute between Friesland and Leiden though. They are offering a deal on site where you can book into the holliday Inn in Leiden for a reasonable price. Only criticism I have is that a few years ago the masterclasses were free and all in with the entrance price. Now you have to pay extra for them. Not much, but still. There are decent cooking demonstrations there as well which are free and for a smal price you can eat whisky marinaded salmon. I would advise if you are getting more and more into tastings to become a memeber of the International Whiskysociety. It doesnt cost much more than the entrance to this festival and if you are e member you get in free. Hope this helps and if you do go, let me know, maybe we can have a dram together there. I have met people from this forum there before. Once a few years ago even an esteemed American member who I have not seen around for a while.
