Sorry, you're citing Wackypedia as a *definitive* source?

Must...not...laugh...

Oh, that was easy. Glenfiddich do not malt their own barley. Nor Tamdhu. Didn't have to go far... In actual fact, I doubt whether Kilchoman do at the moment. Their kiln burnt down some time ago, and I'm not sure whether they've already replaced it. They certainly didn't malt barley the last time I was there, which is about two months ago...

Otherwise, Wikipedia seems fairly accurate, but did I say it wasn't?

It's probably the first time ever that I've come across the term "double malt whisky", but then I never claimed to be an expert ;-)

and this is definitive because..?

A wise man could spend forever attempting to disprove the ravings of a bampot and still not achieve anything.

Besides, I'm still waiting for your answer to the percentile question.

Please wait while I find more...

Nice excuse. We'll soon find out who the bampot is, dont worry...

Again, this is definitive because..?

Oh, about that percentage-of-impurities figure you haven't answered yet?

That's ok - we'll wait while you find the percentile of non-Scotch as well.

The evidence is building up. More to come I assure you...

Percentage of impurities figure? Must have missed that, ask me it again please.

What percentile?? I dont know what the hell you're on about.

From the other thread: "Can you tell me what percentage of impurities stops a liquid being 'whisky' and starts it being a cocktail?"

Still waiting for your answer.

Do I get a prize for proving it wrong on the malting business at Glenfiddich and Tamdhu? I somehow feel left out of the discussion... :-(

Why would I know the answer to that???

I think the key is when impurities are deliberately introduced. I'm not sure I'd go as far as to use the word "cocktail" but certainly adding sherry remnants to whisky doesnt seem right to me.
