1997 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Brunello

Met some friends at a local Italian restaurant for dinner and a few glasses of wine. We started with a variety of oysters and a bottle of 2010 Silex followed by a variety of antipasti with a 2008 Pisoni Estate Pinot Noir. T he Silex and Pisoni were both damn tasty. We opened a bottle of 1997 Ciaci Piccolomini Brunello with black iron skillet ribeyes, seared brussel sprou ts and a little pasta. The Brunello was quite brickish showing age in the glass and on the nose. Lots of mushroom and cedar notes with red berry and cherry notes. Smooth and silky on the palate with resolved tannins and a bit of grip on the finish. Red and black cherry flavors with layers of van illa, dusty gravel and cedar. Quite nice and ready to drin. A
