Opened it and smelled the cork. very promising smell of date-sirup, tobacco and cedar. poured a bit, and very promising smell, but the taste was quite closed. Decanted it some hours, and it came together a bit, but still prim arily earth, cedar, tobacco kind of flavours. devoid of fruit to counter. S urprisingly, it was not acidic as previous adventures in burgundy has been. It kinda reminds me of immature barolo, or a tondonia when just opened (wi thout the acid). But with food it didnt come out and sing like Tondonia and some barolos do. Tried with both lamb and beef. Kept waiting for what the original scent of the cork had promised, but it never delivered. If it cost half, I'd buy it again.

It was interesting, though, to try it as I can recognize what Kistler is tr ying to do in the one I had, being closer to this "more earth , less fruit" approach. Too bad that one costs twice of this one, and this one costs twi ce the burgundy I normally get "Drouhin Laforet" (though last time I had it , it was bitter compared to other times - probably the vintage effect).
