The owner the largest wine store in Trieste arranged to meet me to show me around in his store and based on my cellar tracker cellar print out he reco mmended some wines. Funny thing, he didnt take them down from the display r acks. He dug into boxes in drawers - hidden from the public. He said the on es on the shelves are mainstream wines for people who just come in and want a wine for dinner tonight.
I picked two of the ones he chose, LUI, Puglia 2005 and Ripa Del More, Tosc any 2005.

It is so black you cant even see through the beam as you pour it. Needed de cantation. It is black fruits, condensed, and added tobacco. It is really a masculine wine. The label and the bottle, which is huge compared to other
75cl bottles, commands respect, like a brute who makes himself big and thre atening. The name is "LUI", which means "Him" in italian. I do not give it 90 points because even if it aims big, it doesnt "transcend" into greatness . Something is lacking. I paid 35E for it and I think the price is steep. 2 0-25E would be more fitting. I've seen on wine-searcher it actually is poss ible to get it at that price.Others I consider getting another day based on reviews I read later: Palari Paro 2007, Terra Brune 2002, and Akronte 2003 (Sicilian Cab.). He also had a Luce 1995.
