Champagne Cocktail

I'm not a fan of mixed wine drinks or punches although I do enjoy good Sangria occasionally. Last night we were at the home of some friends for dinner and after dinner the host insisted that I try a "Champagne cocktail" that they had on a recent trip to England. Using a "Marie Antoinette: glass he filled the hollow stem of the glass with Courvosier VSOP cognac then filled the glass with NV Veuve Cliquot demi sec Champagne. Not my cup of tea or glass of Champers as the case may be but and interesting flavor combination that packs a wallop. Anybody ever heard of this one?

You describe the classic Champagne cocktail which I've had many times, as with a Royal Kir. I've just never had Sweet champagne with Cognac before and the deliver sstem was unique. By filling the stem of the Marie Antoinette glass with the cognac then slowly filling the glass, when you sipped a bit of the cognac would sort of "slide" into your mouth with the champagne so the champagne acted as a "chaser" due to the different weights the cognac would stay on the bottom.
