Full Bodied Red

Hi all

Total wine novice, but we like Hardy's and Jacob's Creek reds.

Can anyone recommend alternative extremely full bodied reds for a change? We like the Shiraz offerings, but the emphasis must be on the richness and body. If you can stand a spoon in it that would be good. Budget £10-20

Thanks

Phil

You may want to try reds from Jumilla or Toro in Spain, also Grenaches from Arag?n (region in Spain). They fit my idea of rich wines.

Juan Gil Monastrell 2013 (Jumilla, Spain): around $12 in the USA according to winesearcher.

Alto Moncayo Veraton 2012 (Campo de Borja, Spain): Grenache. Around $22 in the USA.

Maurodos Prima 2012 (Toro, Spain): Tinto Fino. Around $16 in the USA.

Phil, you probably have more choice in the UK than anywhere else in the world (maybe excepting the USA)

My goto red for a few years has been Trapiche Reserve Malbec from Argentina.

Well within your budget - you should have no trouble finding it - and it is excellent value for money.

Going buy danish prices (usually more expensive in DK than in England) and only mentioning readily available wines:

Lamberti Amarone - often on offer in Denmark for 12 pounds down from 20poun ds.

Nugan La Brutta 8 pounds on sale often, normal 15.

Ironstone Reserve old vine zinfandel 9-15 pounds

Gnarly head old vine zinfandel 11 pounds

Wolf Blass gold label shiraz 2 for 20pounds

Trivento golden reserve malbec 14pounds, 2 for 20.

Famiglia bianco organic malbec 12pounds

The only hardy's and jacob creeks Ive had where the cheap lines 5 pounds an d I consider those thin compared to all the wines I mentioned. But it could be wine makers selection and VR lines you are drinking?
