I'm back

Hi all,

been away so long... all because my favorite email reader, Mozilla Thunderbird, went the way of Word Perfect and other previously useful software: sooner or later they become so inflated they cease to function, they develop their own agenda and spend most clock cycles doing that, not leaving any room to do things like read email or usenet.

Anyhow, will try to be more present. Just came back from Turin and Milan, a lot of good wines tasted. Anyone ever try the wines of Fulvio Bressan? His Pinot Nero is incredibly intense and peppery, though like no other PN I have tasted...

cheers

Mike

PS I have gone back to Forté Agent, like 10 years ago... that's progress huh?

Are you using ForteAgent? I'd have thought that more bloated than Mozilla, which seems fine for me....using 17.0.5.

I'm with Jim I felt good leaving Forte and haven't looked back. I have 4 email accounts and this newsgroup to monitor and all work fine.

Yes I realize this and I do have it set to compact at the weekend, but when it starts compacting it never stops and keeps going thru to the next weekend :-(

Anyhow I realized I do not need an email client and now I just use Gmail on the web.

Xnews works fine as a newsreader. It is tiny, no need to install, so you can keep it in a USB key if needed.

Unfortunately, its website seems to be down. Too bad because it is a great little piece of software.

I had to dump Thunderbird for this and the "script busy" issue. Too many mails in various folders, it was choking.

I switched to gnome evolution for mail which is excellent and very fast, pan for ng's, ditto. There may not be a Windows version of these, though.

Welcome back. :)
