Meritage: 2008 Dry Creek The Mariner, Sonoma and The King

****

Found a new wine store in my town and they had this dry creek mariner merit age. Pretty good not so expensive meritage, with chocolate, cedar, ripe bla ck fruits, good finish, nice mouthfeel. The tannins are very soft and it di dn't hold up the 2nd day. Quantum is better, but equally more expensive. The price here, $60, is like beringers napa valley cab and I'd prefer this one over that beringer. On the other hand the knights valley is 44$. But co mpletely different in style. So when I feel like the stony cab Id take knig hts valley and if I feel like a more fruity CA wine Id go for the Dry Creek .

And then a supermarket had an open bottle of a CA cab called "The King" (El vis). It was downright horrible and I exclaimed disgust in public. It was b lackberry yogurt with extra sugar.

Oh, that does sound quite disgusting. At least it wasn't a deep-fried banan a and peanut butter sandwich.
