uesday was fish tacos but no wine as I was meeting a volunteer group in cit y. Wednesday was gorgeous- by concert time it was upper 70s with low humidi ty and a light breeze. Betsy had made a soba salad wirh greens, cukes, and peanuts, while I made cold mussels and a caprese rift (pesto for basil); we also had smoked duck and watermelon. As we sat on grass with friends we al so tried some salmon tartare, beef carpaccio, and a tomato/preserved lemon salad. Guess what, there was wine too!
2012 Pepiere "Clisson" Muscadet Full and rich for Muscadet as you'd expect, but still with a good tension a nd some rocky/oystershell notes underneath. Very nice length, delicious. A- /B+2014 Edmunds St John "Bone Jolly" rose I liked this a lot, it seemed to have more vigor and vim than first bottle I tried. Fresh, lively, red-fruited, versatile. B++
2010 Clos Marie Pic Ste Loup GSM blend. Mid-bodied, dark fruit and underbrush, tangy, B2012 Haut Bourg Muscadet Cotes de Grandlieu Crisp, saline minerality, seashells. B+/B
2009 Mikulski Bourgogne Blanc Fat, tropical, blowsy, showing some oxidative notes. C/C+Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a p arty where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivi ty, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
