TN: L'Ecu Muscadet and Fontodi CC

Ron’s wife is with Betsy at a Sufi event in VA, so we (and our dogs ) had dinner on our patio last night. . He brought salad and appetizers (so me mussels he just smoked), I made linguine with sausage, peppers, and onio ns, and hot dog bun garlic bread (!?!??!)

2014 L’Ecu Orthogneiss Muscadet Fuller riper style of Muscadet, but there’s enough acid tension to keep it focused. Citrus and pit fruits, saline, good length. B+

2004 Fontodi Chianti Classico Just a little tannin, good acids, black cherry and plum fruit, with lots of saddle leather and a little floral/rose petal note. Not super complex, but tasty Sangiovese probably right at its peak for me. B+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a p arty where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivi ty, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
