TN: Several greek wines, 82 Bourgneuf, Burgs, Loires

Grilled salmon, rice, salad, and the 2013 Boulay “Clos de Beaujeau ” Sancerre. Lean, minerally and long, maybe a little shut down at f irst (shows more fruit on day 2). Citrus, citrus zest, just a hint of grass . B+

Friday headed over to Rob’s for local group, theme was Greek reds. He had a nice spread of skordalia, salad, souvlaki, kebabs.

Greeting wine was offtheme

2013 Hureau “Argile” Saumur Tasty Chenin fruit, peach with wax, but tasting pretty mature, even a touch tired. Storage?. B/B-

2015 Argyros Assyrtiko (Santorini) I got Assyrtiko but guessed Sigalas (playing the odds). Citrus, lime blosso m, a little herby note. B+/B

The reds (blind, but basically only guess Xinomavro for bigger wines and Ag iorgitiko for lighter ones)

2007 Vaena Naoussa Floral, tar, black cherry, maybe a little tired but more complexity than mo st.. B/B+

2014 Costa Lazardi “Amethystos” Heavy, a little hot, some vanilla and kirsch. I guessed modern Xinomavro bu t it’s internation- 70% CS, 20 % Merlot, 10% Xinomavro. B-/C+

2013 DioFili Xinomayro A bit tart, modest black cherry fruit, some tannin. B

2016 Mitravelas “Red on Black” Agiorgitiko Lighter, sweet easy fruit, a little spice. B

2013 Kokkinos Naoussa A little chunky, dark fruit with good acids, decent finish. B

2013 Nasiako Agiorgitiko Red fruit, smoke, fresh and easy. B/B+

Fun night

Saturday friends invited me to dinner - grilled shrimp, baby octopus, flank steak, And green bean/tomato salad with pesto, and rice.

NV Besserat de Bellefon “Cuvee des Moines” Extra Brut Cham pagne Crisp, tangy green apple, lots of blossoms and yeast. Dry without being aus tere. B/B+

1982 Bourgneuf-Vayron (Pomerol) Lovely mature Merlot, black plum and mocha with cigarbox and leather. Lovel y smooth texture, a pointe. Great showing for value priced Pomerol. A-/B+

Home and I popped the 2005 Lafarge Bourgogne.. Still young and a little ti ght, some tannin, but opens up with rich black cherry fruit, a peppery kick , lots of floral notes. Still plenty of time for this. B+

All day meeting Sunday, on way home picked up some sea scallops. Grilled th em along with red peppers, with leftover rice and spinach. Half bottle of 2

013 Jean Louis Chavy Puligny-Montrachet. Ripe pear, ok acids, I’d h ave guessed a simple Bourgogne blanc. B-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a p arty where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivi ty, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
