Ran into a friend Friday AM, he mentioned his family was on Long Island, so later I invited him for dinner. He had a co-worker at his house on a proje ct, so he came as well. Lovely night on the patio. Scrounged together appet izers of lobster on quinoa/bean/corn chips and smoked mackerel on green app le with horseradish
2014 Gonnet Chignon Nice Savoie wine- light, floral, and easy. B2008 Trimbach Riesling Just the base yellow label, hint of petrol, apple and white nectarine. Good acids, good finish for level, good showing. B/B+
Main course was grilled tuna (dijon vinaigrette) and squash (with za'atar) along with salad and a carrot salad Alex brought
2014 Olga Raffault Chinon rose Fresh red fruits, citrus peel. mineral. Good acids, nice. B+2011 Garnier "Vaudesir" Chablis Grand Cru Big, full, dry, with pit fruits and apple, a little chalky on finish. This is quite good but a little tightly coiled at moment. B with B+/A- potential ?
Saturday just me, grilled some chicken sausage which I had with salad and t he 2014 Le Provencal rose. The wavy provence bottle (think Ott) , but fake cork. Thin, cluinky unripe strawberries, herbs, short. C+ (the plus was for being cold on a warm night)
A friend brought over some squid last night, I grilled that with some squas h, we also had shiso/cuke/feta salad & sauteed mushrooms.
2014 Chidaine Touraine rose (Groulleau and Pinot Noir) Bright, quite light but with a good finish, raspberry and citrus. B/B+2012 Clos Des Lunes "Lune Blanche" Full styled white Bordeaux for the price, seemingly Semillon driven, rich p ear and nectarine fruit, modest acidity. B
