brew shop recomendations??

Can anyone recomend a good brew/winmaking shop in Central IL? Bloomington would be ideal or champane/urbana. Peoria would be acceptable too...

thanks in advance...

Only one I know of in central IL is in Galesburg. It is called Something's Brewin'. I don't have their address handy, but they are right downtown on Main St.

and scroll down to Illinois. There is one in Bloomington and they have a web site.

You are right. I made a double entry of the shop into Illinois and Indiana, now corrected. However, there are 11 other shops listed on my page for Illinois. Certainly there is ONE within driving distance (in Texas, 5 hours is within driving distance).

:) I noticed the entry under Indiana after I wrote the message :) I went back to double check, and also dug around thier site a bit just to make sure..... looks like a nice place to visit though...

I tend to try to stay within an hour or so.... Still, the Springfield one would do in a pinch.. that's only 2 - 2.5 hours away....

thanks!

WOOHOO --- Presque Isle recently opened up a store here in Fargo.

I also would endorse Grape and Granary -- good prices, and never a problem with my orders.

I did.. I ordered from Midwest supplies.. price wasn't too bad.. havn't gotten my order yet, but I just mailed off the check Monday, so we will see.... I was just looking for somewhere I could go in, browse, dream, and walk out with a 50 cent yeast packet without a lot of hassles or shipping charges.

The internet has alot to offer.... but when you are ready to pitch, and realize you used your last packed last time, would you rather run

30 minutes away, pay less than a buck, and have it? or order, wait 3 days for delivery, pay 3.95 for shipping.... you see where I am going with this... Don't get me wrong.. the Inet is a great tool that I use frequently.. but there is nothing like a physical store near by for when you run out of somthing...

I understand. Since internet (and mail) orders take about a week to be delivered, they aren't too useful in an "emergency", so one must plan ahead. Similarly, since shipping charges are at least $5 nowadays (blame it on higher USPS and UPS prices because of higher gas prices because of ...), it makes more sense to order as much as possible at one time. I've got it down (now) to a single August order, for my entire year's requirements. [And I pay 38 cents a packet for yeast].
