Potassium sorbate caused cloudy wine ?

Hi,

I've made a gallon of plum wine. After a couple of months and racking once it was sparkling clear and the fermentation finished.. Following most recipes I added a campden tablet and the recommended dose of potassium sorbate to prevent refermentation.

However since adding the potassium sorbate (campden tablet added

24hours earlier) the wine has turned very cloudy. I've added Kwik Clear finings but it's not improved.

Any advice anyone ?

This happened to me and a few other people, and I'm sad to say I didn't find a quick solution to the problem. I can tell you that if you plan on bulk aging for 6 months or more, you're in luck, this stuff will fall down. But it won't be fast. And KC finings didn't help. I'm guessing, just like I did, you want to bottle soon. No can do. I use potassium meta powder now, instead of campden tablets, for just this reason.

Not good news... This happened to a couple of wines I made. Filtration is the only solution I found.
