Canadian and American beer.....differences? similarities?

Hi guys, I've been watching this NG for some time now and I finally have a decent question to ask. I know some of my fellow Canadians have a complete disregard for American beer like Budweiser, Coors or Miller. Frankly, I think they need to do some drinking and less bitching. More American beer (which I like btw..) has dribbled down my chin during my college years than what has passed through them their whole life. So....to my question....What are the differences in American beer and Canadian beer? I do find your beer somewhat weaker but it more than makes up for it in taste. Are there any differences in the brewing recipe or procedure?

There's precious little difference between mass-produced Canadian lager and mass-produced American lager. Both, as a group, are very close to 5% alcohol by volume. Both use adjuncts to bump the alcohol to this level without adding taste. Both use barely a threshold level of hops. This is all done, of course, because the consumer has demanded a virtually flavorless alcohol delivery system in a twelve- ounce container.

If you want to extrapolate, the mass-produced European lagers are virtually the same in these respects, maybe without so much adjunct but otherwise fulfilling the same need.
