Schlitz

Pabst Brewing, current owner of the Schlitz brand is re-introducing the brew in Chicago after Minneapolis/St. Paul and Tampa Bay, Florida. Nice to see one of the old names back in business. Schlitz is right up there with Olympia, Hamms, Pabst, Coors and other beers I enjoyed as a young guy.

Perhaps you would like to see the return of Billy Beer, Jax, and Phieffer's! ;)

Remember when generic food was all the rage in the mid-'70s? Then the generic product makers came up with "BEER".

I wonder if that stuff tasted as bad as Billy Beer. I was too young to drink beer in the mid-'70s.

In Buffalo, we had Iroquois, Beck's (not the German one!) and a few others back in the day. Rochester had Standard Dry Ale and Genessee. Oh, waitaminnit, it still does have Genny Pounders and Genny Screamers.

Billy Beer, Jax, and Pfieffer's are in a class by themselves.

Generic beer was probably just a Bud by-product.

The generic beers sold in California back in the 70s were, for the most part, brewed by General Brewing.

I'm remembering some brewery in PA making their stuff.

One guy I remember wanted to find the cheapest worst tasting beer he could. He found something called "Old Dutch" ("The Good Stuff!") (ha!) one time. I'm wondering if they brewed it.

Or it might have been those Rolling Rock folks, which, I guess, would be a Bud by-product.

Buit, if you want one, you can always go to ebay for it. There's always people selling them.
