Newb question about box wine

As will be obvious shortly, I know nothing about wine.  But I make a point of drinking 5 oz. of French Paradox red wine every day, just in case.  Up to now I've been buying either Cabernet or Merlot in the 5-liter box from Almaden.  (By the way, in searching the 7000 articles in this newsgroup on my server, not a single Subject contains the word "Almaden".  Why is that?)Anyway, I've noticed that Almaden also sells another red wine in a box called Mountain Burgundy.  On their website, Almaden is careful to make clear that this is not a varietal, but they give no hint as to what varieties it might include in the blend.  Does anybody here know, or have an educated guess based on the taste?  I assume Pinot Noir would be way too much to hope for, but is it possible to say anything about it other than it's genuine red wine?  Also, what might it taste like, compared to the two varietals I've been drinking?It occurs to me now that in this newsgroup *I* may be the foremost authority on Almaden...

Alsace Wine Label Question

Hi all. My wife and I just enjoyed a bottle of 2012 Domaine Ehrhart Pinot Gris. Written on the label, under the line Pinot Gris and above the line 2012, is IM BERG. What does that mean/signify? I know that berg can usually mean town or village. But what is IM? Is that the name of a village? Or does it mean something altogether different?  TIA, Jack

Fermenting seems stalled

I am making a 5 gallon batch of Rhubarb-Raspberry wine. My initial SGwas 1.10 after removing pulp bag and topping off. After fermentationfor 4 days the SG was down to 1.04 and I racked into a carboy.After 10 days the bubbling slowed to one bubble every 2 minutes or so.Then after 11 more days the bubbling was no existent.  The SP at thatpoint was 1.008 with a Pot Alcohol of about 1%. (It still tastedpretty sweet).  I racked again at that point.I have since let it sit for another 10 days with no signs offermentation.  I believe it stuck.My question is how can I restart the fermentation to get at least downto 1.000 SG or lower?I initially used 1 5 gram package of Montrachet yeast. (Not hydrated,but sprinkled over the top of the juice)Can I use another package (Possibly hydrated) to restart fermentation?Could there be any negative affect of adding more yeast at this point?Or could I possibly adding yeast nutrient to the must without addingmore yeast to try to kick start the existing...

Glass Tea brewer?

Hi all. I am new to the group and I have a question to ask. Recently, Iwas in Beijing and went to BeiDa (Beijing University) and walked arounon campus. I ducked into a chinese language class and found theprofessor had an interesting item. She had what looked like a glass teabrewer. It was a slender glass containter (taller and wider than a cokecan) loose tea floating in it. The lid was plastic and flat and had asort of a loop handle to it. I found that it was a common thing withstudents but didnt think to ask about it or try to purchase one untilnow. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Anyone know the name ofthis item or where on the internet I can purchase this? thanks.

Canadian tea drinkers- Red Rose tea - what happened to quality?

Hi    I've been a Red Rose tea drinker for the past 30 plus years. At one time it was fragrant strong tea.You would open the box and the wonderful aroma would was delicious.I purchased some boxes in the past 2 months and Lipton company, who I believe has taken over Red Rose, has changed the product into GUTROT!The aroma is gone. There is NO tea flavor. I generally steep my tea for 5-10 min and even after doing this it still is TASTELESS SWAMP WATERMy Red Rose drinking friends have found the same thing.Is there another tea out there that is comparable to the original Red Rose flavor?Roseanne
